Wontons

About the Recipe

Best made with friends or family, folding the wontons is the most time consuming part. Buy the wrappers and choose any fillings you like, we prefer pork and shrimp as our main ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs pork

  • 1.5 lb shrimp deveined, chopped

  • Chopped rehydrated black fungus

  • 2+ cups water

  • 2 tbsp dried fish powder (picture below)

  • 1 tbsp chicken stock powder

  • 1 tbsp salt

  • 2 tbsp corn starch

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 4 packs of wonton wrappers

Steps

  1. Mix pork with water until it is a soft consistency (video below).

  2. Add dried fish powder, chicken stock powder, salt, mix. Then add shrimp and black fungus, mix. add corn starch, mix, then mix in sesame oil.

  3. Fold wontons into any shape you like. Cook 1 and eat it to make sure the flavour is to your taste, adjust filling as needed, then fold away (You can also freeze the filling and save for future wontons).

  4. Freeze or cook the wontons right away. Wontons can be cooked straight from frozen and they are done when they are all floating 6-10 min.

  5. Eat in a soup with noodles/veg or with sauce (I mix soy sauce, black vinegar, and chili oil).
